productive mamas

On Friday the 29th of March 2019, work started on the Qube to dismantle it and move it along the High street to its new home next to the Eagle House Doctors Surgery. By the End of the day the Qube was reassembled in its new position over looking the Junction of Southbury and Nags Head Road.
Now all it needs is a lick of paint and some community events to bring it back to life.'
Thanks to H Jacobs for the footage.

Breaking News!

PECDT have recently been fortunate enough to be funded to run 2 community festivals in 2018.
Thanks to funding from The Big Lottery Fund we will be able to hold a summer and winter festival, as well as re-instate The Ponders End News Letter (The PEN).
We will be looking for community groups from the Ponders End area to get involved in this fabulous opportunity. Watch this space for further details.

The Qube

PECDT would like to ask for input to support its efforts to secure a permanent community space on the High Street.

We are currently in discussion with council and it seem likely that the current site that The Qube is on will be taken up by the development of new homes and shops.
During its short life which began in March 2016, it has benefited many community groups and individuals. It has become a focal point on the High Street and has offered several events and activities for local people. The Qube, managed by the PECDT has proven that there is great need for local affordable space and without it there will be less opportunities to bring communities together.

Activities so far:
Fitness classes, tuition groups, health awareness talks, police surgeries, ward forums, partnership meetings, private parties, religious groups, festivals, community engagement consultations, business promotions. Exhibitions, film screenings, heritage club meetings, arts and crafts events, gardening clubs and employment training.

If you can see the benefit of having a community space on the High street, we would like your help to put forward a request to the council to help us secure a permanent space.
We have attached a questionnaire for you to complete and ask that you get as many of your family, friends and group users to fill out the questionnaire and return it to us here at PECDT office by the 9th of February 2018.

You can return your response by email to the following address: using the subject line ‘Community Space Response’.
Alternatively you can print your response and hand it in, Vincent House, 2E Nags Head Rd, Enfield EN3 7FN.

- Maureen Cairns
On the 22nd January 2019 Ponders End said goodbye to one its Heritage Heroes Maureen Cairns. I had the privilege of meeting Maureen October 2014 at the opening of the Two Brewers memorial on the corner of South Street and Ponders End High Street. I met Maureen with other elders who attended, they told me stories of Ponders End life that painted a colourful, interesting and intriguing view and made me want to know more. Click below for more.
